This will be my first symposium and I was wondering how registration is going and what the projected attendance is. Mostly curious whether high gas prices and increases in air travel costs are affecting attendance.

I am really looking forward to a learning rich environment.😛

We are still expecting and planning for an attendance of about 2000.
It will be a tremendous event.

On 20 may we had 1300 registered. Add in another 150 for the demonstrators, youth, and videographers and we have 1450. This is enough to make it our 3rd largest.

Portland registration was at 1120 at the same time last year and we had another 500+ register.

The economy will keep some people away.
The attendance at recent regional and mini symposia seems to be off just a bit.
On the other hand Maybe some folks will spend their stimulus check on the Symposium.

See you in Richmond
Al

We just spent our stimulus check to stimulate water out of the well, since the old pump went bad rather abruptly, but I will be there. Do I count as one, or a small crowd? 😉

That is funny Bill. Of course if you didn't catch that you can hit the rewind button. 😀😉

I will be there as I planned the yearly visit with the kids around it.

I haven't received my stimulus check and it has been so long since I have been stimulated I am not sure what to expect. I may need to have a defibrillator handy. I am willing to take the risk.

Bill, when you and I are together I think we could mistakenly be thought of as a herd. Of course herd refers to most gatherings of four footed animals.

So rather than a herd because of our size we might be misconstrued as a "parade" of elephants; a "bloat" of hippopotami; or a "crash" of rhino;

Or because of our stubbornness and bull-headedness we might be mistaken as an "obstinacy" of buffalo;

Some might think because of our girth we are a "passel" of hogs;

Others might think because we are advancing in age and recently became grandfathers that we are a "cover" of coots;

But I prefer to think we are a "shrewdness" of apes.😛😀

Whatever we are we won't be alone in Richmond because the last time I attended a large turning function I saw lots of people just like me and you.

(Of course most weren't as handsome as we are.)

I'll be sure to point you out John! And Mike, that is quite the assemblage of terms, but you forgot one - a gaggle of gags! 😛 And Barbara, it is very kind of you to say so. I will look forward to seeing you again.

Stimulus check

I got my check and I am not very stimulated. Too bad the government had to go into debt to try and get us to go into debt spending money. This beats "voodoo economics" all to hell. My check amounted to about a good case of wine which I think is exactly where it is going.
