Super Nova 2

I have a Super Nova 2 chuck that came with their anniversary set. This chuck body has dedicated 11/4"x8" threads which is what I wanted. I now want a companion body for this chuck and I want it threaded the same. I don't want an insert style chuck. I know they make them because I have one but I'll be darned if I can find one. I have an email out to technatool but haven't heard back yet. In the meantime I thought someone here maybe able to help me out.

The only direct threaded 1.25 x 8 Nova Chuck that I have ever heard of is the Anniversary Set you just purchased.

I think you're right Dan. My reasons are kind of moot anyhow. I suppose I'll end up getting the insert body chuck but I'll just wait and see what Technatool has to say.

Hi Dave,
I have a Nova titan II that is 1 1/4 X 8 TPI. It is a few years old though.

I have sent Teknatool a half dozen emails over the last 3 years and don't believe I've heard back on any of them. If you really want their help, call them. They're pretty good on the phone. I think they're in Florida, so their hours may be a little different than Lake Wobegone.

I have had good luck getting pre-purchase advice by phone. Expect to spend some time on hold, though.

I have several Nova chucks with inserts and don't have a problem with them. Be sure you get a Nova insert to go in a Nova chuck. With another brand you may have problems. Allyn

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have come to the conclusion that I will not find another dedicated 1.25x8" SN2 chuck without buying another 30th anniversary set. I just got done putting some more money into my toy chest so this isn't something I'm going to do right away. I've been re-thinking this anyway. Right now I might consider a Record Power chuck since the jaws are interchangeable with the SN. At least then I'll be able to compare the 2 chucks.
