Well I finally had the time to look over the pieces.
Everyone should be congratulated on a job well done it is obvious these were all well thought out and executed ideas.
a quick disclaimer before I talk about the pieces. Judging woodturnings through just a few pictures is difficult to ascertain the true quality and give useful feedback. Ideally, I would have the piece in person and be able to discuss it with the maker so I'd have some background of where the maker is at and where their pieces may be going. This was hard to put into a 1,2,3 places as the work was all nice. Also keep in mind that these are only my opinions and if yours was not one of the pieces that placed it does not mean that it is not a great piece. Anyway here goes
1st Place Pascal Oudet: neat idea, nice use of the grain, has a very primitive feel to it gives a sense of twisting which I really like.
2nd place Berni Hrytzak: Wow great piece. Very fun idea. Well executed. Great story from the auction as well. Keep up the great work.
3rd place Keith Burns: Nice form. I like the use of bark and the orientation of the gain. Finial works well with the piece.
The rest in no particular order:
Dreher: Neat concept. I enjoy the fact that they are separate but connected so that the contents from one could spill into the other
Mark S Nadeau: Well done box. Very clean lines. Good use of different woods.
Jeff Greenwood: Fun idea. Well executed I like the piece as a stand alone piece of sculpture.
J Pence: Nice job on the flute. I like the use of color dyes in the wood - it gives the piece a nice depth.
Robert Davis: Well done. Great idea to store spices and make them look good.
Dixwood: Neat idea. So nice to make something that you will use as part of your woodturning. Keep up the great carving - looks good.
Paul Norman (forestgrmp): Nice stand - good color choice. Clean lines- very contemporary.
rmuniak: simple shape, great choice of wood. Nice work!
Thanks for the opportunity!
