Square clamp block for Jet Mini

I have an old Jet 1014 mini lathe and sometime back I found a square clamp block for the toolrest but I have since lost the link. I have scoured multiple forums to recover it but to no avail. Does anyone remember the company that made these? I did find them on the website years ago.

Thanks

Randy Privett made them, his company was Monster Lathe Tools. After his passing the kids tried to keep the business going but raising two kids with a woodturning business was not working. I know of no one now making them as they work so much better than the round ones that come with the midi lathes.

just curious. What is a square clamp block?
The original clamp plate was a thick round stepped washer. It clamped the tailstock to the lathe bed. It would often slip because of the limited contact area of the circular plate. Someone had the idea to replace it with a square stepped plate to increase contact area. It works great! I also made my own, but I also have a vertical mill so machining the steps was easy for me. Anyone could make it by taking two pieces of steel cut to size with a hole drilled through both. Then epoxy them together. No need for milling then.

check out Rick Herrell on the IAP website. He is in Pilot Mtn., NC. A fellow in Indianapolis went by Johnny CNC made mine years ago. I have not seen or heard of him in many years.

I am a terrible machinist but if you will send me the dimensions I can make one. I made one for myself years ago but I don't own that lathe and don't have the dimensions any more. Here are some photos. I added a sping and a roll bin to keep the plate aligned and to push the retaining plate up to make it easier to get the tailstock back on the lathe. You can also see that I didn't have a welder back then. I simply screwed the 2 pieces together.

I bought a pair for a Delta Midi years ago from Oneway. Still has problems with the banjo and tailstock relaxing after cinching down.

Holy cow John, that's way beyond the one I got from Monster some time ago. The adding of the spring was a great idea as sometimes it's hard to get it on the lathe. It's actually a good adaptation for all clamp blocks.
