To all the people of the forum,I am truly sorry that my post have caused this amount of trouble.I did not mean for this to happen.I'm am use to seeing pictures and how-to do's just posted I didn't realize you have to ask questions
about the stuff that you don't know is happening. On SMC everyone post what their doing an show pictures some in progress and everything so I'm sorry thats what I'm use to and I thought thats how forums work,I will do my best to stay in the parameters of this form. But if you don't know what new things people are doing because it's not being shown ,how do you ask the questions.
I do hope you will accept my apology,I am truly sorry.

Each forum has its own unique flavor. That, in itself, does not make any of them wrong or right in the way that things are done. I have participated in SMC for 5 or 6 years, but not so much in the last couple years because of the all too frequent flame wars (not so much in the turning section, but in some of the others). SMC does not have a separate gallery section (they might now -- I have not checked lately), so that is one reason why you see much more of the turnings being posted in the discussion forums. I sort of prefer the organization of having a separate gallery section the way that it is done on this site where you can easily keep track of all of your own turning images, look through another individual's turnings, or just look randomly through the gallery.

You haven't caused any trouble. I think that you just experienced a difference in cultures -- that's all. A lot of people frequent both SMC and AAW to participate in what each has to offer.

Both SMC and AAW are discussion forums -- that means that both serve mainly as real-time sources of information and idea sharing. Neither could be considered as being a resource that has a comprehensive compilation of woodturning knowledge stored in some sort of static repository. If such were the case, and if real-time sharing of ideas were not valued, then perhaps an online library would be all that is needed and we could dispense with discussion forums. Fortunately (in my opinion), that is not the case.

Anyway, if you are trying to find an answer to a particular question, do not be afraid to ask. There is a wealth of information available in the participants here. Also, do not be hesitant to share your experience with anyone who might be looking for help. Welcome to the AAW forum and I think that you will find that this forum and SMC are both helpful resources.

Opinions are individual things. You expressed yours, others, theirs. This place is what you make of it. You don't have to accept the status quo. Bring your questions, ideas, yes, even opinions, and participate.

You can take advantage of photo posts with the gallery, where there's really little to do but look, or use urls from third party sites to display works in progress or complete. Maybe even an oops with a request on how to avoid a future event. For those I prefer something like Photobucket rather than the forum gallery. Or put it directly in the post as a picture using the "manage attachments" feature.

Work in progress when snapped to demonstrate off- forum.
