Sometimes, turning can be a bit "exhausting" [humor]

I found this while looking at old Popular Science mags on Googlebooks, it's from January 1916--OK, think it's a metal lathe but good for a chuckle anyway. Happy New Year!

is that an Indian? 😎

Does appear to be a native American cycle. 🙄

Brings back memories of the "Whizzer," basically a Schwinn powered by a Maytag washing machine motor. Yes, before the REA, they had gas motors on farms for washing. I see some wonderful things at the steam and gas association annual displays. I imagine there might have been a lathe or so powered by steam, too.

"Exhausting" is right!

That must have been a pain to kick start everytime you wanted to crank up the lathe!

I guess you can tell a happy lathe turner by the bugs on his teeth!

Now I know what to tell my Harley-riding buddy he can do with it! At least if it craps out, it's still in the garage 🙂
