This is the third collaboration in a series with my wife Ruth. The disc is 22"x3" and carved to a depth of 1". This piece uses more saturated color and includes shear material that softens the edges and reveal additional layers. This project was my first attempt at carving and I expect that you will see more of it in future pieces.

Jim,

I'll have to admit that the first two didn't do that much for me but I really like this one. The colors are fantastic. Especially like the contrast with the wood and the "weeping" effect of the fabric flowing from the wood. Maybe I just couldn't understand how the fabric maintained it's position above the wood on the first two.

You're certainly on a wonderful track.

The color

We stepped out a bit on the color on this piece. I have to thank Ruth for that, she takes risks when it comes to color. Chartreuse is her favorite.
