This is the second of five pieces from a collaboration with my wife Ruth. (See the story on the earlier post "And now for something completely different") It is formed around a 20x2 inch Zebra Wood disk that was turned and carved. the length is about 40 inches. The quilted and beaded insert is made from hand dyed fabrics. It is sunk into the concave disk about .75 inch by carving away the surface. We were delighted by the positive feedback on the first piece, and are anxious to share this one. We hope you like it.

very innovative and creative ... the blending of the textile with the wood is great ...

ruth, your textiles are wonderful! the colors, beading and extensions really add all sorts of depth to the work ... and flow so well with the wood.

beautiful work -- what fun that the both of you can collarborate to produce such lovely work.

more please!

Your pieces are definitely unique... great job, both of you! I like 'em!

I think it is time for you and your equally talented wife to start interveiwing galleries to represent you. I strugle with the line between Fine craft and fine art you two have definately gone to the art side and I suspect would be very successful with this style of work. Go for it and good luck.

Showing

Last June my wife and I set a goal to do ten pieces together with the intention of putting a show together in 06. We have completed seven and have three in the works. We are confident that we will achieve of goal, and all the great feedback encourages even more.
