some good news about the prolonged cold snap

interesting, we have ash, but in my local oak is dominent, just shows us there is some good in most things, thanks John Van

Great! Now if the incoming Polar Vortex would kindly solidify the Walnut Twig Beetles maybe we can make some progress on 1000 Canker disease.

I'm just hoping it kills off some of the mosquito larvae and ticks. We haven't had a good cold spell in several years and those pest have gotten worse each year. Hoping that 48hrs below freezing will do it!

The winter survival rate for deer and elk populations always suffer in severe cold years.......probably quite a few other critters, as well.

With Mother Nature, there is very little that can happen that doesn't have both good and bad.......🙁

On the positive side, I really love some nicely figured ash for turning......😀

For some reason most ash leaves me bored, even the figured stuff. Not sure why?????? 😕I have turned quite a bit in the last 2 years. Gretch

Yep, I can understand that, Gretch 😀

Ash isn't the most spectacular wood (there are always exceptions), but I do enjoy working with it......as long as you get a good enough cut that requires little sanding. Over-sanded ash is very unappealing.

He's crazier than I am. Of course I put a sweater on now when it's 50 outside. I told my boss it was time to retire because I had this huge urge to move to Florida every winter. 🙂

Odie, yes he does .... he takes after his mother who took after her father, always a prankster. 😀
