Anyone know if pewter could work? I have been experimenting with pewter casting on wood-Molten pewter does not scortch wood.
One pewter I have is Tin 98%! Bismuth 1.5%, Copper .50%

My knowledge of magnetism is from Diet Smith who thought he could control the world with magnetism. My knowledge of electricity begins with the ON switch and ends with the OFF switch.


In my limited research tin is about 15% the conductivity of copper.
I think this means a tin wire needs to be 7 times as thick as a copper wire to conduct the same amount of electricity. Don't know what it means for creating a magnetic field.


To make matters worse alloys generally have less conductivity than the linear percents of their components.

What size do you want to see? I made a 1/2" , 3/4" and 1" several years ago.
The ones I made were for a magic affect, a small hollow wood tube with the copper tube glued inside.
Two metal balls, one steel and one rare earth magnet were used in the affect.
You show the hollow wood tube by looking through the end.
You drop the metal ball through the tube and catch it in your hand.
You palm the steel ball and switch it with the rare earth magnet ball.
You then drop the rare earth magnet into the tube and then turn the tube over several times
trying to find the ball, the magnet is slowed down moving through the tube so if your timing
is good you can keep flipping the tube as the magnet travels back and forth through the tube.
You then palm the magnet from the bottom of the tube and switch it with the steel ball.
