Drug home this little chunk of maple today
about 34 inches tall and I would guess about 12 inces in diameter after I trim off that ugly bump on the side. I guess that part will make good firewood 😀 😀 😀

As they say on Monster Garage FREEBIE!!!!!
I can see I'm gonna have to fire up the sawmill tomorrow and cut this and the walnut crotches I got yesterday 😀

I haven't quite decided how to go about cutting it yet, It wraps around 3 sides of the log. Was thinking of laying it down on the unburled side and slabbing it off till I got out of figure. Then rotating it 90 degrees and slabbing it off agin till i'm out of figure then rotate it 180. The first pass should yield some 16 inch or so wide slabs. The 2 sides should give me 8 inch wide slabs. Of course maybe I should just chuck the whole thing up in the lathe

So how thick is the question, 6 inches for the 16 inch slabs and maybe 4 for the 8 inch slabs?
