Could't believe this. Stacked up some waiting projects on the tablesaw, which is of course the most-used table in the shop, so I could roll some big newsprint and shaving doobies for the furnace. Then I saw picture three.

There must be a project there somewhere.

I think that I just had a moment of enlightenment -- I never quite knew the true reason that it is called a "table" saw. But, I do have to clear the table before I can "see" it so that I can "saw" on it. Hmmmm . . . . "see" . . . "saw" . . . do I see another moment of enlightenment coming?

I once had two stacked bowls stick together. The more that I looked at it, the more I liked it. I sanded the outside of the lower bowl until it faired into the top bowl with a feather edge. I asked my wife what she thought about it and she replied that I could probably use it in my shop to store some parts (in other words, don't bring it in the house). Some people just don't appreciate "art" when they see it.

Leave it up to our wives to inject reality back into the situation. 2 weeks ago I was taking a platter out back with the propane torch. I said "I'm going to creatively burn the edge on this". She said "That's too nice to burn, you're not really going to do that are you....", with a heavy roll of the eyes.

I mean...how are we supposed to create art!?!

I should have been clearer on my tablesaw comment. That tablesaw got used to saw some wood about 4 years ago. Sure makes a great table!

On many occasions when I create a piece of "ART" - my wife's reaction is "Burn it". Art is in the eye of the beholder.

Mine hasn't see it yet, but I've already got an idea to make the upper part square, with the Torii ears on it. Now to find a suitable piece or two of firewood in the stack.

I don't know about you guys. To heck with the table saw. My wife is a work of art! Hope she reads this...

Uh, I dunno, Michael.......

The more that I look at it ............

The more that I think that it looks like .........

A Brokeback Mountain style cowboy hat ..........

Not that there's anything wrong with that

You and my daughter! We were doing our weekly shopping together yesterday. Breakfast and shop is a Friday ritual. She saw an ad for the DVD which is coming out soon to take advantage of the Oscar hoopla, and decided to tweak the old man. I told her I would not spend the money.

Then we were getting a couple pair of shorts - they'll have no selection if I wait until the snow melts - and saw some pink shirts. Another tweak at the old man, asking if I had the courage to wear one. My reply? "You get one for your husband yet? "

HE could wear one. At 6'5" and 260, a former offensive tackle, nobody's going to try and tweak him.
