Georgetroy gives you a lot of fantastic ideas with drawings.
Nearly all are orizontal segmented turning. You van get very nice vertical segmented effects, and you have somewhat less to glue together.
For a start I would recomend vertical segmented turning.
Enjoy it! 🙂

ok thanks
I smacked my head into my tv (which is hooked into my computer) and im trying to do it....right....now

Kyle I'll second Malcolm Tibbits book. I own most of the segmented books on the market and his is the best I've read. It covers a lot of different techniques and does it well. You can get them off Amazon. com pretty easily.

Simple segmented fruit bowl for Kyle

Ok here you go. Faceplate: screw wood disc to it for glue block. Glue 6" solid disc for segmented base, I would use walnut or maple, they part easy. Next size 12 pc segmented ring 7", then, 8", then 9" and last ring 10". Your flat boards should be at least 1 1/2" wide. Follow the basic instructions on my web site. www.georgetroygraphics. com.
I posted 2 photos of a simple fruit bowl in the gallery of georgetroy.
