Sealer coat on wet wood bowl

Turning thin (mostly 1/8", some to 3/8")green bowls to finish in one go. A few turners apply the 1st sealer coat of oil-urethane to wet bowl. Say it helps with checking & vacuum chucking. Further finish coats applied after bowl is dry. Others say applying a sealer coat before bowl is completely dry will ruin the finish. I would like to try the first way; just don't want to ruin the bowls. Thanks for any feedback, Michael

I don't finish until things are dry. It's only a couple weeks at 3/8, tops. I find that final sanding dry is easier on the sandpaper supply and produces a superior surface. If it's still damp inside, the surface will stand up anyway, so might as well get it all in one.
