I am looking for a source of sanding discs that are like spiral threads radiating out from center. They come in different grits, are approx. 1.5" to 2" in diameter and shafts are sized to fit Foredom or dremel.
I saw these at AAW symposium and they would be used for irregular surfaces or holes. Each "thread" is maybe 1/16" wide at the root and radiates outward to a point.
(These are not wave discs etc.)

3M Radial Bristle Discs

Hi Bernie!

I think you might be looking for the 3M Radial Bristle Abrasives..... Bruce Hoover at The Sanding Glove is a dealer for these, and is a supporting vendor at AAW Symposia. I use these abrasives, and really like them. I have sets of 9/16", 3/4", 1", and 2" in all grits Bruce carries - I suggest getting separate mandrels for each grit, particularly since they are fairly inexpensive. They are great for carvings and detail work. Also, customer service at The Sanding Glove is excellent!

Bernie, you can find them at a number of places, but I agree with Rob that the Sanding Glove is the place to go ... not just for this, but I trust "True-Grit" Bruce Hoover's in-depth knowledge of all things abrasive -- and he won't rub you the wrong way 🙂 (had to toss in a pun). He will answer all your questions and can recommend the best type of abrasive for any particular purpose.
 
I second Rob's suggestion in getting several mandrels, one for each size and grit of disc. Changing those little discs to the next grit if you only have one mandrel is a huge PITA!
