Balistol works for us in Lakeland, fl - available on Amazon now.
I hate the smell- sort a greasy odor- like fast food restaurant dumpster.
We put it on last thing for the day - ways of the lathe, bandsaw table, table saw table....
Pump spray it on rub it in with a disposable towel. Wipe it mostly off.
next morning smell is gone and everything slides nicely.
lasts for months if a machine is not used.
We put I on once a week during heavy use.
Once a month light use.
if something needs attention during the day I use WD40
Like that smell!
The best I've used is Aerokroil, but like Al said: severely stinky.
Lately I've been using Tryflo. It's decent for rust prevention, and has the least smell. My lathe is outside, under cover, here in the Alaskan rainforest, and the bed has held up well.
