Hello Everyone.
I've played with wood for most of my life. Never too seriously tho. Last year it was spoon carving, this year i managed to get bitten hard by the wood turning bug!
I started out by taking a pen turning class at my local woodcraft. I loved it! A week or two later a lathe showed up at the door, a package set from PSI along with one of their chucks and a few other accessories.
That evening I turned a very rough magic wand for my son. A fun first project! My next item was a very small bowl that my wife now uses to hold small bits of jewelry.
I initially got the lathe to make pens, but to date I've only made one pen/pencil set with it - a gift for my nephew for his high school graduation. What I have made a lot of is bowls. I've become... my wife would say obsessed... with making bowls! The biggest I've managed to get completed so far is about 6" diameter or so. Less than two months into my woodturning journey and I've made close to a dozen bowls, and probably blown up that many as well. Luckily the massive failures have slowed down dramatically.
I missed the local club meeting last month due to family stuff, but I'm hoping to make it and join next month.
Turning wood has quickly become a passion that I look forward to each day after work. Learning about woodturning takes up the rest of any spare time I can find. Reading, watching videos, etc.
I'm not sure if the link will work, but I've tried to share some of my work so far.: https://photos.app.goo.gl/reapDfso2Bc7J9WS9
Looking forward to participating and learning more here.
Ron
