The one I bought a few years back is light duty and fiddly. Biggest complaint I have though is the laser is not very good. Projects a fat splotchy looking dot that hard to line up with an edge. Hope they've improved it since then.
I got one several years ago and the laser dies and he will not sell just the laser. The knobs are too small and will bounce on rough turning. I still use it but I made modifications. Look at the one Tim Yoder has come up with. Looks solid and well made and knowing Tim he will back it up with parts.
Just got an email from Don Geiger, I have used his vertical solution for many years, as well as other products. He has a limited amount of nice looking laser light rig.
The Elbo Laser Guide from Tim Yoder works very well. I have been using it for almost a year and it is pretty much bullet proof, plus Tim stands by his products.
I’ve had one for 5-6 yrs. It works fairly well but eventually the laser will need replaced, and as others said you have to find a different laser. The laser for my Jamieson hollowing rig fits and I think Lyle sells it separately. I still use it for smaller hollow forms I do with hand held tools.
I bought Ron's laser guide at SWAT for $50 a year before I actually used it. I agree with Gerald that the knobs are small making it harder than necessary to tighten. But I have a drawer of jig parts and never have felt it bad enough to look for a replacement. I do check the alignment frequently, but you should do that with anything you buy. I'm satisfied with mine. Laser works fine and I see no reason why it won't last a life time.
