Go to Vintagemachinery.org and look for the manufacturer and then the publication list. While they may not have your exact model there are several that are similar. The pin you describe is an indexing pin used for reeding, grooving etc. mostly on legs.

An index wheel is also handy to have for laying out multi center ( three sided, two sided turnings), patterns for carving, leg positions in stools and tables....
