Hi - I understand that the gentleman who made these for sharpening chisels on a bench grinder has retired but have seen some posts where someone else was going to be making them. Does anyone know who is making them or where they can be bought from please.

I was told the bowl rests will be out first, and they 'may' be at the Symposium. I don't think the person who will be making them realizes the demand for the product. He does read this forum...

Lot of pent up demand. I'm glad that I got both the tool rest and grinder rest while they were still available; I use them every time I turn.

I do like my Robo rest but when I heard they were going to quit making them I started searching for a tool rest that I could recommend to new turners. I found the woodturnerswonders tool rest that goes with the Kodiak system. It has about 5 keyed positions for most standard grinds and can be locked in any position if you don't like those positions. It is extremely solid. I liked it so much I drilled mine every 5 degrees that didn't already have a lock. So now I can lock it in any position like the Oneway rest. I can lock it in the positions recommended for the Kodiak grinding system and I can lock it any one of the 5 degree positions using a simple allen wrench. I love this rest.

I don't think the guy who is going to be making them has a clue as to what the demand will be.

I hope he hurries up--this is the tool that will make me a great turner. Until the next thing comes out!!
Seriously--i gave up looking for a used one a few years ago. I like what @john lucas did to his Kodiak, and that could be a possiblity as well. Didn't figure i could get the angles "perfect"--but i'm beginning to think that "pretty darned close" is good as long as i'm repeating every time.
Still--would like to find an original!!

I used a digital angle gauge to set the table to drill the holes but it really doesn't matter. Because the wheel angles away from the table if you set the table to 40 degrees it grinds the bevel to about 35 or less. Again it doesn't matter. The only thing that really matters is repeatability.
I forgot to mention that his rest comes in two styles. One fits the Oneway and Kodiak system. The other has a flat bottom so you can mount it on other grinder systems.

Cindy Drozda's vendor table

Love it!

But, as Cindy well knows, greatness comes with the user!

But, professional turners do have to make a living... it's a tough business and every little bit helps.

So, it's our job as 'also-rans' to keep buying these bits and pieces to at least look the part and, more importantly, to keep the food on their tables...:D
