I remember seeing something about buses to the convention center from the several hotels, however I no longer see that on the Symposium page. The Omni is a bit of a hike so I'm wondering if anyone can shed a bit of light here. Shuttles or no shuttles?

Hi Mark,
It is a nice walk. 5-6 blocks.

This is the draft of what we'll be putting in the program.

Bus service to and from the Convention Center will be provided by the Richmond Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau and will run from one hour prior to AAW opening on each day until one hour after AAW closing each day to/from the following AAW hotels: Omni Richmond Hotel, 100 South 12th Street, Richmond; Crowne Plaza Richmond Downtown, 555 East Canal Street, Richmond; and Doubletree Hotel Richmond Downtown, 301 West Franklin Street, Richmond.

Thank You Al!!

The Omni is about 14 blocks or, according to the GRTC website, just slightly under a mile, from the Center. With no parking "arrangements" and the fee set up, I was not planning on moving my car out of the hotel lot until check-out on Sunday. However the existing Rote Map for the GRTC lists a change of bus to/from the Omni. Don't mind paying for the ride, but a non-stop flight will be nice.

Thanks Again

Okay guys NOT FREE !!
wish I new how to do it in big red

At no addional cost to registered attendees and their companions going to the banquette or spouse tours etc.

I'm sure somebody is getting paid from the money AAW pays for the convention facilities etc.

Oooops?

So is the shuttle bus ride to/from the 3 hotels included in the Registration? Do we get a bus pass along with our little ID badges or are the badges it? Or do we pay the driver or feed the meter thingy?

I'm a bit confused, Al. I was assuming that I would have to buy one of those GRTC fare cards rather than hauling quarters around with me.

Thanks,

Mark

I haven't heard anything about tickets.

I think it will be like any "free" shuttle service.
you just get on.

At the risk of confusing everyone more. The Marriott has a "free" hotel shuttle vans to anyplace in the local area.
We took this to restaurants which all seem to be way down by the Omni.
We walked back after dinner.
