Thanks to all who entered the contest. And a big thank you to our volunteer judges for the results and for their very timely turnaround !!
Congratulations to the following winners:
First prize Chris Andrew pic 1 pic 2
We both thought the platter was well executed. The surface decoration around the edge added an element of interest and was very appealing. The overall impact of the piece might have been simplified and improved without the addition of the second bowl depression. However we both liked the offset placement of the primary bowl.
Second Prize Petteri Leppikallio pic 1 pic 2
This piece is certainly original and it looks like Petteri has had a lot of fun making it. We liked the way he has carried the theme through top to bottom of the platter using unique surface decoration techniques. To further his idea, he has finished it in a manner consistent with the theme. The form may have benefited from a more simple composition of elements.
Third Prize Ed Kelle pic1
This piece appears extremely well turned and textured. The way the bottom of the platter follows the top shape works well while the addition of bleach highlights the textured carving. The form and decoration are so attractively simple Ed might consider adding an additional, subtle element of interest.
