I just bought a remote switch for my lathe and I am little electrically challenged.I have the manual with the diagram, but still, I'm not shore exactly how it gets done. And I do not want to mess it up. Can anyone HELP me with some actual pictures or some idiot proof instructions or links....😕 Thanks Bob

Bob,

If you have a diagram, you know which wire connects up where........right?

If that is so, are you asking about preparing wire leads with the proper connectors?

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are asking.

I'm not much better than you for electrical knowledge, but I've done some. Probably someone will come along that is an expert on the subject.......but, if they don't know exactly what you are asking, they won't know how to help you out.........

I was going to re-install my remote switch today. I have a 3520A. Maybe they are the same internally, I don't know for sure. I'll take a few photos as I do it. I had removed it for repair. The switch is kind of cheap and gets dirty. You can take it apart and clean it. Last time I did that I remove the whole thing. I have a project coming up that is far too scary to turn by reaching around it to get to the switch so I'm re-installing it.

Remote On/Off Switch 3520B

Bob,
When I bought my 3520 in 2007, I also purchased the remote switch. It came with nice directions...but the colored leads were different than those listed. So, I called technical service and they walked me through it! Easy!

Thanks Kurt, that sounds like the way to go, yeah the picture does not match the wire colors the headstock. Thanks for the phone number, I'll be calling on Monday

Bob Here it is. Mine has a blue wire attached to the top of the switch. The schematic shows the wire on the bottom of the switch goes to the reverse switch. If that's the case in your lathe pull the wire that does not go to the reverse switch.
To remove the wire on the top of the switch loosen the phillips screw on the back of the switch. Connect this wire to one lead of the remote switch. I had to cut the connector off and strip the blue wire to be able to connect it to one lead of the remote switch.
Connect the other lead of the remote switch to on/off switch. This lead may be the one that already has a U connector on it.
Here are the photos. The photo on the left shows the remote switch leads coming through the back. The photo on the right shows the white connector attached to the top of the switch and the blue wire is tied into the black wire of the remote.

PM Remote Swt

I am not sure the PM 3520B is like the PM 3520A as far as the wireing goes. But it is really simple to wire the remote stitch. Take the wire off one side of the push/pull switch. Not the one that goes to the FWD/REV switch. Mine was blue. Put the blue wire to the black wire of the remote switch.Take the white wire of the remote switch and hook it where you took the wire "blue" from. You should be ready to go.

The wire to the remote switch will fit through the hole in the back of the headstock.
