I am unable to post more than two photos of a bowl in my album, and I feel it's necessary to get a good mental concept of this bowl......so, as I explained in my album, here is the profile of this bowl. Click the link to my AAW album below to see the other two photos and description of this bowl.

that's quite a piece of wood. Good job on taking advantage of it. I never get wood like that which may be why I turn what I do. I'd probably do more bowls and vessels if I had highly figured woods.

Thanks John......

You've taken your own directions with the very excellent mirrors you make. I can imagine the joy those ladies who have them feel......you are the best at what you do, and your mirrors are very special.

Odie, you can always create composite images that combine two or more views into a single image and still be within physical size limits. You mentioned in the gallery posting that you were unable to post a link to the forum posting, but you should be able to do that.

For what it's worth, if I am looking at a photograph of a turning, my preference is to see a perspective view as opposed to a set of orthographic views. The perspective view helps to add a sense of three dimensional depth through the use of light and shadows. The orthographic views serve more of a technical purpose comparable to an engineering outline drawing in presenting exact shape and dimensions. An analogy would be the creative presentation of a formal portrait and the technical presentation of mug shots on the bulletin board at the post office. Both have valid purposes.

Hi Bill......I get your meaning, but what I wanted to do was show the shape of the rim, and neither of the two photos in the gallery entries did that.

I can copy the link from the forum, but the "edit" photo in the album won't allow me to paste that link into the text.

If I am not mistaken, I believe that the text tools includes a tool for inserting a link. I know that it is there for those who place comments. I need to verify whether it is there for the OP. If not, you could post a comment that includes a link. The tool isn't exactly obvious, but it is the tiny symbol that is supposed to look like a couple chain links. I don't know what happened to the written English language ... sort of looks like we might be headed back to using hieroglyphics.

Thanks, Bill......I'll check on posting a link in the comments later........

odie, I didn't see anything that said what kind of wood you used for this turning. BTW, beautiful piece of wood!

I believe that he said it was claro walnut.

It is a very dark wood and I think that in cases like this it can help to override the camera's auto exposure with some positive compensation ... Maybe about 2/3 stop.

Thanks, John.....yes, it's "wormy claro walnut burl"

Bill......OK, I think I've got it figured out, now. Link has been inserted to the photo text in my AAW album. What I found out was you can't click on the chain links and insert the link, because it will show up at the beginning of the text. This can't be cut and paste to where you want it. What needs to be done is attempt to insert the link in the usual way where you want it. A window will pop up where you can then insert the link, and it will be positioned to the correct location within the text.

Thank you very much for your help.
