Come to learn and to have fun!

Oneway:

You likely will not be disappointed! Excellent presentations each day, and the feeling you get in the vendors area is "like a kid in a candy store". (Carefully assess your "disposable income" situation before leaving, and have at it for tools and supplies - there's nothing like it anywhere...)

You will be blown-away by the Instant Gallery. Bring your camera and an open mind..... some outstanding creativity, and lots of ideas.

This will be only my 3rd AAW Symposium, and I'm already planning for Virginia next year...

See you in Portland!

Your correct that was a poor choice of locations !!!!

Maybe for you, this year I can drive. If I was going to Richmond (ie next year's location), and booking only a month out, the tickets for two would be $1300.

The location moves so it is convenient for different parts of the country every year.

I thought I had it worked out to go this year after all, and willing to pay additional tix cost to trip I already had going so it wasn't bad. I was going to confirm through the university that I was shooting a documentary for on Tuesday after Memorial Day about the ticket, then pay for registration and search for hotel. I have been to two symposiums and know that if you take advantage of what's there it will be a great experience.

All this changed on Memorial Day when I was working on our second story roof. Long painful story short- slipped, railing broke fall and my femur is six pieces, lots of surgery, x-ray of leg now looks like Home Depot hardware dept ad, other injuries from broken elbow to chipped tooth but nothing life-threatening, a week in hospital, can't get out of bed by myself, using walker for 6-8 weeks, then hope to use cane by time school starts back. I am not going anywhere except trips to bathroom and occasional doctor visit for a month or two so I will miss Portland, but see all of you in Richmond next year. I'll be the guy with the cool cane :)

I feel extremely fortunate to still be here so no complaints from me. First project for when I get out to shop in a few months? Make that cool cane ;) Anyone sees good cane kit parts at Portland please let me know! I will be looking forward to postings and living the symposium through the 'net.

Oh, believe me, I made sure to make her feel guilty about ruining my weekend plans. She owes me big for that. But alas, family has to come first. I'm sure i hear about the highlights of Portland.

I and www.turningwood.com will do our best (as usual) to bring you the highlights. We usually have "cub reporters" running around taking photos and such. (We need more though too, volunteers?)
