Today, one of the contestants made a suggestion that the poll results be hidden until the poll is over. That was a good suggestion. The poll/vote should be held similar to standard voting procedure - without the news channel exit interviews 🙂
As of 11:30pm CST Monday, the Platter poll results are now hidden. The results will show zeros for each contestant. The results will be made public after the Saturday midnite cutoff.
This is not a default feature in the Vbulletin forum software we are using. It took me several hours to modify the code behind our version of the software for this feature to be in effect. It's unfortunate that I didn't implement this prior to the contest, but it's fixed now.
How the new feature works:
The new feature is available when you create a new thread with a poll, or modify an existing thread with a poll. At the bottom of the "Poll setup page" there is an option to "Hide Poll Results". The option can be turned on or off. When the poll is closed, the results will then be made available for public viewing. Alternatively, the option can be toggled on or off as desired.
