Hello and Happy Thanksgiving!

I have been a woodturner on and off for 13 years. I guess I caught the turning bug back in the early 70's in high school shop class. Fast forward to 2011 I bought a Delta midi lathe. I retired 2 years ago and moved up to a Jet 1640 so I could turn larger bowls. I have learned a lot from reading on the various sites including the AAW. I joined AAW to take full advantage of all the things offered here. I mostly turn bowls, but I want to try hollow form turning also. I live in a small town in Wisconsin so in order to find green wood to turn I have gotten to know the local tree trimmers which are happy to give me some wood. I also enjoy running to stay fit. I try to do 6 or more races a year from 5k and 10k's to half marathons. Looking forward to chatting with members and maybe going to the AAW St Paul Symposium!

Paul

It looks like I posted this in the wrong section. Can one of the administrators move it to the introduction section. thanks...

Nice to meet you, Paul!

It was easier for me to run back when I was 73 but I now enjoy hobbling to keep fit! Actually, speed walking - we have a 27 acre farm and I far prefer to walk unless it's pouring rain.
I too was introduced to turning, but in the 60s, when someone in shop class bounced a bowl off the ceiling, the floor, and on out through the window on the other side of the shop.
Didn't try turning myself until I wanted to make something for a son in architecture school, 20 some years ago. Good fun!

If an admin or moderator doesn't notice this thread location, you might try asking one in a private "conversation". I don't know how to find all the names, but some I noticed are:
