Hello All,
As some of you might remember I stated that I was putting together a MS Power Point Presentation of my May 2006 visit to Oneway Manufacturing. The presentation is available for downloading from my website. http://www.vinceswoodnwonders.com Please click on Oneway Tour.

Please hear me clearly, I do not work for Oneway or reimburst in anyway. I am just a satisfied customer. If Vicmarc or some other lathe/woodturning tool manufacturer was close by you would be viewing their facility instead of this one. I made this trip and took these PICs producing this presentation as a learning tool for anyone or any turning/wood club who might be interested in viewing these PICs. So, I hope you enjoy this presentation and please contact me if you have any questions. Thanks, Vince

What a great tour Vince. I know a Louisville resident who received a stainless steel bed during the symposium. Maybe that was the one!

Would be fun to "work" in that factory for a couple of days and run some of those neat machines. That metal press is one stout looking production machine!

Steve and Jeff,
The stuff Oneway had was just incredable! To me this was a bigger operation than I imagined. I tried to leave my wallet in my car but that did not work... I "had" to get some things. It just would "not" have been right to go alllllll the way up there and not come back with some nice tools!!!

The funny thing was when I crossed the boarder back to the USA. My suicase was bulging from the trip! The customs person asked me what was in my suitcase that was making it bulge? I told her it was my dirty underwear and asked her if she would like to verify. She quickly handed me back my passport and stated "have a nice day". It worked like a charm!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOLOL! V

If you had been coming back from Israel, I promise you that your threat of dirty laundry would not have stopped them! My suitcase was full of exactly that. They just put on the rubber gloves and waded right in. Unabashed and unembarrassed. It's what they do for EVERYone. And that's why no El Al plane has ever been hijacked. :cool2:

I applaud your effort taken in preparing a Powerpoint presentation. But, wouldn't it be easier to post a few photos for those of us who do not have the software to support the format? Downloading and installing the software for those of us who will never use it again is a real PIA!!!! I have a 3hp 2436 Oneway lathe and would have enjoyed seeing the factory.

Wasn't it an El Al plane at Entebe (sp)? I think the Israeli response to that had as much to do with the lack of subsequent hijackings as anything.

History Lesson

Nope, it was an Air France flight (See This Link)

Had about 50 Jews on board (one third of the passengers; not all of them were Israelis) and that was enough to tick off the IDF and begin Operation Jonathan.

Pardon my ignorance, but, I've never been across the border to Canada. Why didn't you just say you had Oneway tools in your suitcase? Would that have meant tariffs???

Inquiring minds want to know?

Anytime you bring things back over the boarder it is my understanding that you do have to pay "taxes and duties". Not to mention you must stop and get out and fill out paper work. Besides, it was just underwear!!! LOL. V

Vince... ah NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement).

As a result of my job I am back and forth, well, a lot (twice this month). Recently, one of my co-workers brought back a wood stove, direct from the factory. Told the guys at the border, and they told me they hoped he saved money.

That being said, it is my experience that Oneway tools are cheaper in the USA, then they are in Canada. Sometime Sorby is cheaper in Canada, but, again (taxes excluded) Sorby is usually cheaper in the USA. Teknatools is cheaper in the US, and so on.
