It looks as though Oneway is addressing the various issues with the "new" bearings that seem to be causing problems. The following was posted (8/8/11) to the Oneway forum in response to a high headstock heat issue on an '07 2436:

We have decided to change the bearings we are using on the spindles, so we may have to change out the bearings you have as you are not the only one recently that has encountered problems with heat and noise on the lathe spindles.

Thank you for your patience,
Peter Moore

I saw the message this morning and thought it pertinent to the issues experienced and discussed here.

That is very positive news indeed. I was planning on purchasing a 2436 for a while now, but after reading herein of some of the problems with them I was having second thoughts. Oneway is only 1 1/2 hrs up the road from my permanent residence in Ontario and that would sure have some advantages. I'll give it a few months and see where this change takes them.
