Hello All,
Looking for advise on the Oneway Bowl Coring System. I have 2 lathes with 15" swing and one with 31". What I would like to be able to do is use one system on all the machines. My thought was to buy the 16" and make a riser to adapt it to the 31". What I am unsure of is whether the 16" will work with the 15" swing. If it will not then I will have to go to the 12" and build risers for each lathe. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob Wilson

Bob,
I have the oneway system for use on me PM3520B and I'm happy with it but under your circumstances I think I'd consider the McNaughton system. I think it might be more adaptable for your needs.

The only thing I could see preventing you from using the 16" one would be the height of the tubes that hold the knife and the toolrest. Worst case is you would have to cut those tubes down a bit.
For the larger lathe you would have to make a riser block to bolt the tool to and it would also bolt down to the lathe bed. That may be a bit tricky as during tool use, you need to reposition the tool after each core to accommodate the depth of the new core.

Thanks Everyone

Thanks for all your input. I will see if I can get in touch with Oneway and also check out the McNaughton system. Thanks again.

10" easy core adapted to 16" lathe

With this set up, the largest core I can get is just under 12". There is only one blade with the 10" Easy Core, but the cost is very low (just over $200) compared to the larger sets ($700-$900 range depending on # of knives). I move the base around to get two usable cores from one blank for a total of 3 bowls.

I have the McNaughton standard. Picked up at SWAT last week. Today I cored my first set. Worked great. Mahoney's video helped a lot.

Since in fits in your tool rest, it should move between the two lathes better then the Oneway.

John 🙂

Also, if you do find the post that comes with the McNaugton is too short, their North American rep will send you out an extra long one for free that you can cut to custom length.
