Oliver 2018 lathe

If I'm not mistaken, it sort of looks like a Reeves mechanical variable speed drive on that lathe.....although, it does appear to have two speed ranges. I had a Northwood lathe with a single range Reeves variable drive. (Northwood was a machinery importer that came and went in the 1980's.) If I could go back to that method of variable speed, I would not. It is slow to change speeds, and wears out belts quickly.

MM is right.......It appears to be capitalizing on a once trusted name in lathes......but, is nothing more than a knock-off cheaper version.
