The gal that gave me the large cherry burl that had the onion figure with ring shakes gave me a second burl, much smaller (7-8" diameter?). Kept my fingers crossed and will show some of the pics. and add more to a second window.
DSCN1938 (640x360).jpg. made the bottom =DSCN1943 (640x360).jpg and now rings are seen with water flying out of the ring shakes-however shakes were intermittent.. Forged on after washing helmet.DSCN1947 (640x360).jpg (duct tape on the back side.). Left bowl thicker (3/8") than normal for me . Continued next window, Gretch

You can always edit your posts to remove unwanted images. Just scroll down to manage attachments and remove the unwanted images. You posted a large and small version of two of the images. Just be careful about deleting the right ones because once they're gone, they're gone.

I don't know if this applies to you, but sometimes a larger image will contain a smaller embedded image in the same file. I don't really think that is what happened, but who knows. Never trust anything digital.

Well Bill, my ineptness with computer is showing through. I am going around in circles to get rid of the dups. Spent 20 min and getting nowhere, Gretch

"Go Advanced"

Gretch, in order to Manage Attachments when you edit the post, you need to "Go Advanced" (click on labeled button, lower right of text box). The image management here isn't the smoothest or most intuitive, so it's understandable things might not be obvious.

Thought I tried that. May get the gumption to do again, but maybe not..... Thanks, gertch

Gretch, you are absolutely correct about the cumbersome nature of posting images in vBulletin. It is very interesting that the earlier incarnations of vBulletin were actually superior to the current version. Hopefully, the new forum software will be a lot better in this respect.

same thing

My onions were smaller and came in groups, and not as symmetrical as yours, but otherwise this looks exactly like what I went through, including the high water content. Expect the rings to open up quite a bit as it dries.

Contacted the gal that gave them to me. They were from the same tree. The smaller one was about 6 foot higher in the tree, The only really turned burl (2 days ago ) hasn't opened up yet, but expect it to. Not sure if there will be anything salvageable, Gretch
