Well its holiday season again. I thought I would say a project that might fit in quite well. I have never made one but a friend of mine has one. At csusa there are 2 nutcracker kits, a letter press and a ships wheel. (I am sure there is somewhere else that sells it.) My friend prefers the letter press. Well the project is a bowl on top of a bowl. The bottom bowl is larger and it holds the nuts, in the center of the bottom bowl is a post( the way he described it is that it is removable) on that post is a smaller bowl; and finally in the center of the top bowl is the nutcracker. So you take a nut from the bottom, crack it letting the shells fall down into the top bowl. And when the top bowl gets full of shells; simply pop it off and empty it. Just the idea; I have never made one, but I do want to.
