hello,
I am a new member and need some advice.
I am new at wood turning and have an old delta 46-450 wood lathe that is in good condition except for a few parts.

That is the problem. Where do I get parts.
The upper pulley and load spring washer needs replacing .

Also it has the 3phase, 3/4 hp motor.
Would a static phase converter work well with this setup?

Thanks everone
Bob

I used to be able to get parts from Delta for older lathes. You might check there first. Pulleys and springs can probably bought locally. The pulleys on a lot of older machines weren't anything unusual.
The best bet on the motor would be to purchase a Variable Frequency Drive and have someone install it. It will let you plug into a standard 110 outlet and will give you variable speed to boot. The trick is knowing which one to buy and I'm not an expert here. I have purchased one from this company and installed it myself. I probably got lucky.

Thanks for the advice, Delta does not carry many parts for the old lathes.
It appears the Ebay is a good source for parts.
I am going to try a static phase converter for the 3 phase motor.
