The turning challenge for the month of November 2024 was to turn a puahala style calabash. Now, the challenge for all forum members (this means you and me) is to choose a winner. Voting begins now and concludes at midnight UTC (coordinated universal time) on Saturday, 30 November, 2024.

You are allowed two votes; once you have voted, you won't be able to go back and change your votes. After you have voted, you can track the vote totals. The voting is secret (just like an actual election), so nobody else can see who you voted for (not even the moderators/administrators). In case of a tie vote, the forum moderators will gather in a virtual waist-deep shavings-filled shop to determine the winner.

As in all previous challenges, the winner might have to pass a lie detector test before being awarded the Grand Prize (rumored to be a high-carbon dogleg SRG).

These are all very nice vessels, well turned and finished. The classic pua'hala shape is highly nuanced and extremely hard to achieve without a lot of practice. I would say that half of these nailed it. Thank you to all of you for submitting your entries. Those of us too timid, or busy, to do so salute you.

@Lou Jacobs you set the bar extremely high with the first post. I think you had the best form out of all of us
That’s so generous of you to say Kevin. Thank you! I think our forms were nearly identical, and your choice of wood was a showstopper! Again, a well-deserved win! But I’m bursting with curiosity, please let me know (if you ever find out) what a dogleg SRG is! ;-).
