i have an older teknatool chuck that uses two tommy bars to operate.
it has become stuck. i cant open or close it. have tried to disassemble it but cant get the insert apart from the body.
any suggestions??
and yes i have removed the captive ring.
have always had problems with this chuck sticking and not operating as smoothly as it should
have had it apart a couple times to clean it and tweak it
arnt these guaranteed for life?

open to all suggestions

"Captive ring" = circlip? PITA to get back on. Check the jaw travel stop on the body proper. make sure it's out of the way. Make sure you're not trying to remove the insert instead of the body. Grub screw there as well. http://www.teknatool.com/products/Chucks/Nova/downloads/Nova Chuck Manual.pdf

It's really mechanically simple, so unless you've had some force twist or jam things - might release with a mallet raps round and round - it should move well with a bit of lube. I think I've cleaned mine with other than compressed air once in twenty plus years.

If no hope by Monday, call the US reps. http://www.teknatool.com/index.htm
