I am intrestred in how long after a club meeting is the news letter published and the reasons for that time of publication. We have been kicking it around on when we should put ours out and the reason for that time.
Thanks
I belong to 3 clubs. The newletter time seems to be determined by the newsletter editor. One club sends it out within a week of the meeting. One club send it out about 2 weeks before the meeting. The other varies.
I've done newsletters before also and My preference was to send it out so they received it about a week before the meeting. That seemed to improve attendance. It's easier to write the newsletter right after the meeting because everything is fresh on your mind.
The Tennessee Association newsletter has an advice and answer column so the editor has to send out a query or ask for tips and advice a week or so after the meeting. This gives enough time for those inclined to ask or answer to write in and he can put it together. Then the newsletter comes out a week or so before the meeting. That seems to work well.
The week prior to the meeting is very common with the Chapters I'm familiar with. The only downside to that timing is, occasionally special announcements often made at the meeting being reported on are no longer relevant because their time has passed. That is where web based newsletters and an active website are very advantageous.
Our local chapter puts out the newsletter the week following our monthly meeting, so that they can include the pictures of the show and tell turnings of the members done between the last meeting and the current one, and also as a reminder of all business items and upcoming events that are scheduled over the next 2 or3 months [an example being our Ellsworth demo on 25 May, 2010]
I always tried to get the newsletter out 1-1/2 weeks before the meeting. Enough time to remind people about the meeting, but not so long that people forget.
One of the previous editors tended to get the newsletter out the 3 days before the meeting. IMO, way too late
I am the editor for one club. The newsletter goes out a week before the meeting since it serves to remind folks of the upcoming meeting date and demonstrator.
