To inject a little fun into this forum, Steve and I have created new user titles. User titles are the labels that the forum software applies under your name in each thread and posting. Before the change we had some ho-hum titles:

# of postings/title
0-10 / novice
11-50 / member
50+ / super member

...or something like that. The new titles are listed below. So far no one has 5,000 posts. (Although one guy on one of the astronomy forums has 14,000 posts since 2003. I'm not kidding.)

1....N oo B
5....Member
10....Super Member
25....Journeyman
50....Senior Journeyman
75....Sage
100....Professor Emeritus
150....Scholastic Sledgehammer
200....Pooh-Bah
250....Carpal Tunnel
300....Lathe-meister
350....Master Turner
400....Bowl-meister
450....Wood Finish King
500....Post Laureate
750....Postmaster
1000....Wood Master
1500....Eats Woodchips for Breakfast
2000....Would Rather Turn Than Sleep
3000....Woodturns While Sleeping
4000....Addicted to WoodTurning
5000....Emits WoodTurning Aura

Sounds like fun to me! I have a long way to go to live up to the titles your gonna give, but I'm gonna keep asking questions....

New Moderator Titles

Jeff/Steve,

How about injecting even more fun into the forum with new titles for the moderators?

Grand Marshal
Exhaulted Poobah
Benevolent Dictator

"Emits WoodTurning Aura?" Must be caused when "Eats Woodchips for Breakfast."

Oh, and you left out "Grand Poo Bah."

😀

user names

I am in real life a "professor emeritus". In wood turning I'll have to work some more to live up to my name!!! I like humor. Keep it up, 😀 Gretch

Randy - Steve and I just like to moderate the forum....no elevation desired on this! Also it is probably good to keep our titles as "moderators" so that new people who sign up onto the forum will know who we are. Good suggestion though!

Mark - good catch! Grand Pooh-Bah is now attainable at 600 posts. Updated list is in the FAQ area and also listed below.

I,m posting to see what my title is. Sounds like fun.
Well, Sean, you are a super member!

Personally , I have always wanted to be grand poobah, but that was in the waterbuffallo lodge.

Sub catedgories

Perhaps, we could incorporate sub-categories, for instance under the category of Pooh-Bah, there could be Junior Pooh-Bah, Senior Pooh-Bah, Honorable Pooh-Bah, Mighty Pooh-Bah, Grand Pooh-Bah, and Exalted Pooh-Bah.

I think I want to get to 150 - 200. Love the name. If I get that far - can I keep it? Good fun Jeff.

When I first read about...............

this forum change I thought Oh! cool. Then, recently after some thought, I realized that to become the "perfesser alwaysrightus," the title I now have, took 100+ posts. At my typing speed I could have driven to LA and back and had time to rough out a few dozen bowls!!! Gonna get away from the computer and spend more time in the shop. 😱 😀
