I've just put up 3 instructional videos on the Hunter turning tools on youtube. I hope they will help some of you who own them or looking to get some. I'm brand new at doing videos and finally have a decent editing program. Hopefully the next ones will be much better. My plans are to do short ones on all the different tool cuts and some of the more unusual tools out there that i own. I need a stand in actor to replace me. Marty Feldman would have been perfect but he's gone so maybe Mel Brooks would do it.

I'm using ILife on a MAC computer. I tried a program called Pinnacle on my windows computer. The literature was horrible even with an aftermarket book. I simply could not figure it out. I managed to produce a video but it was one of the most frustrating thing I've ever done. ILife is far easier to use. and only took a few hours of watching the tutorials and playing to figure it out.
Perhaps someone can point out a good video editing program for Windows.

Well done John.

John, I watched all 3 instructional videos and all of them demonstrate the techniques to use the Hunter tool very well. Good work and well done. I have not really used the Hunter tool and may start using one after watching. Thanks for your input.🙂

Hunter Tools

John,
Excellent videos! Lots of good information. I've never liked my Hunter tools
but I'm ready to try again. As is usual good work. Hunter should put you on
the par role.

I made the video's because so many people have trouble using the tools. I thought it would be nice to show them the proper way. The video's could be improved. I'm brand new at shooting video and have a very long way to go.

From what I have seen, you really don't have that far to go to get "better"😉, practice is all that is needed.
Thanks for the work done to make this happen.

Dan I plan on working on the next one as soon as I get back from a class at the Folkschool. Anyone have any suggestions on what they want to see. The next one will be on cutting coves with the spindle gouge since I did an article for the Journal a while back on this technique.

Having used my Hunters for a month or so, I would like to see the effects of tip rotation on aggressiveness of cut (twisting a bent cutter increases minimum hole size and increases the angle at which the cutter hits the wood.)

I can say that I have found that slowing down the speed will all but remove the self feed tenancies of some of the cutters.
