Brings back great memories of my own "mini-me" with his own workbench of the same scale, and time spent working in the shop together.

Mine is now 16, driving his own Ford Ranger truck, and in the Fall will start his second year of woodworking shop in High School. He plays on the varsity golf team, and is also tracking the female population of similar age. He still comes into the shop and occasionally scrolls or turns something, but more of his time is now spent on X-Box, golf, friends, girls, etc.

I sometimes can still pay mine in chocolate milk (...but more often G2 Gatorade).

Rob

PS: Here he is turning a bowl at age 9.....

Chandler loves running th e drill press too. Always wears his "boggles". Can't wait until he gets big enough for the lathe.

I don't get a lot done when they're down there, it seems. Too many "Poppa look(s)" and "need hewp(s)" to concentrate. Start acquiring real hand tools like rasps, saws and eggbeater drills as you attend swap meets or garage sales. They'll be much safer than "kiddie" junk available at toy stores. NEVER let them use those cheap striking tools in kiddie sets, even with their goggles.

Lil is six now. Probably three years away from edge tools. G is three and the mistress of the glued monstrosity.

I found that Stanley makes ear defenders which fit the girls' smaller spans well. Middle price line at Menards. Be sure to have spare glasses and ears. If they can't remember to stow them properly, you have two people looking for their safety gear....
