A friend of a friend came to my house in 2006. He was retiring as an ENT physician. He had experience with woodworking. I showed him my lathe and a few demos. He then thought this is what he'd do in retirement. He bought clones of what I had and suggested as far as beginning accessories.. So he bought a 1640 with a 2 HP motor and $900 of equipment. It Took a while to wind down his practice, just as his lungs (ran in the family) were giving out. He never chucked a piece of wood nor used any of the equipment. He has come to the decision he has to get rid of stuff.
Can you assist me to assist him in selling this??? I know some of you are lurking and may want to upgrade, and wanted the "family" to hear about this first. What do you think is a fair price for the lathe?? (not counting shipping) Some of you have mentioned that a quality lathe in good shape can command a price about equal to what you pd for it. I do not want to be a middle "man", but just to get the ball rolling. I may buy some of his accessories. Appreciatively, Gretch
