Does anyone here know of more reasonably priced oil lamp inserts than what Lee Valley is selling. ? Either in Canada or USA. It doesn't matter for me. No doubt the L V ones are top quality but I don't think anyone that buys the finished product is going to care if the container is hand blown or if it is mass produced for a better price. And seeing that it is hidden inside the wood, I can't really justify paying that much for a hand blown part.
Here is the link to what I am referring to.

I am thinking that these decorative oil lamps would go very well at pre-christmas craft sales along with my weed pots etc. so I will be needing to purchase some of those type of kits in the very near future. Those lamps look like they would be simple to make a bunch of in short order and there really isn't much wood required to make them. People shopping at craft sales are always searching for unique gifts in the $10.00 to $25.00 range and the lower the price, the greater the volume of sales.

Lamp Kits

I think that I have seen similar kits at Michaels or Joanns craft stores.

Good luck, and let us know if you find them.

Thanks JimQ;
There are no Michaels or Joannes Craft stores in Canada that I am aware of at least not out here in Western Canada. But occasionally we go over the border to USA and my wife stocks up on quilting supplies at Joanne's.
I will try a google on those two and see if they have a website and/or stock of those parts.

Thanks for that link Bob. I had already got it . Between a couple other sites I posted my inquiry in plus a few people that sent me emails with address's I was able to compare prices and quality for what I was looking for. I also have a link for some 99¢ ones like the link and picture you supplied but they are quite miniature and not the style I was looking for.
So I finally orderd a dozen online last night from this company and I am going to make some and see how they go at craft sales. I did see these all done up in a wood base at a craft sale several years ago and the guy was selling quite a number of them. I thought it looked like a great idea but at that time I didn't have a lathe. He had one lighted while displaying them which problably helped him get sales of them.

There were several sources with the identical one in three packs but quite a variety of prices. Sure pays to shop around.
Thanks for the responses here . I have a dozen in the mail and I will give it a try and see how it goes.
