Some of you may know already but I'm moving. Bought a new house for my future bride and I. Packed up the house today into a container. Will pack up the shop on Friday after the weather clears. A friend left 2 projects for me to do just as I started last week. One was a clock stand. It was missing the entire top so I made a new top with 6 finials and a ring supported by the finials. I still have some minor work to do to make it look old like the rest of the piece. The other project was 2 replacement finials for a clock. I really had to rush these so they aren't exact matches but pretty darn close. the middle one is the finial he brought. Had to take the lathe down and pack all my tools. Hard to say goodby to my gold monster for a while but I'll be back. Hopefully move into the new place March 23rd but I don't know when I'll have the new shop ready to go. May have to build one so it could be a while.

Congratulations!

John,

Congratulations on the move and the soon to be wife!

Moving can be a pretty big pain. I'm sure when the itch gets bad enough you will find a way to get back turning though.

best wishes on new chapter of yall live.....are you staying in Tennessee?

John,

Congratulations on your new wife, new life, new house and continued good health too! I hope that even though you won't be turning for a while that you'll still be able to be on the forum. You'll be sorely missed if you can't. But man, I agree with Al: moving is exciting but dreadful indeed!

Take care,

Mark

congratulations

Just want to say congradulations and hope you stay active in forum, even if you cannot not turn for awhile. My wife and I keep talking ahout downsizing, but thought of moving scares me -too much stuff to either pack or sell

Pete I've actually spent 2 weeks packing everything and putting all the bigger machines, workbenches and cabinets on rollers to make the move possible in one day. So in reality I have been working on the move for 2 weeks. I will have to store the shop in a shipping container until I can get a new shop fabricated. Hopefully that won't be long.

John......This might be a good time to get a mini-lathe and do some tops, yo-yos, Christmas ornaments, little bird houses......and so forth!

Congratulations 😀

Odie I have a mini lathe but will probably be actively involved in working on the house and shop and won't have time to turn. However I'm going to try and place it last in the storage container just in case.

Well I'm totally packed. Filled 2 8x8x20'foot containers totally to the ceiling.a huge thanks to 4 turning buddies who hung in there till the shop was empty. Now I have to sit for a couple of weeks before we can move in and talk to contractors about building a shop. I will stay in touch with the forums. It's my only outlet for turning

there is always judge judy or oprah

Well the good news is I can start moving in tomorrow. Closed on the house today and the owners are already out. Got the name of a good contractor to discuss the shop so its all coming together.
I stored the shop in an 8x20 foot container. The guy said it was the heaviest container he's ever moved. I wondered about that Has a lot of heavy iron in there

I have some sleepless nights also , not sure if john up early or bill just getting in.....this daylight savings time messing with sleep patterns

daylight savings time.....from an indian on reservation ....only the government would think that cutting a foot off one end of blanket, sewing it on the other end of blanket, would make a longer blanket
