This is my first Ash bowl It came from a crotch It has some curl in it and a few inclusions Its 8" x 2 1/2" This Is also the first time power sanding with my New Wave disks I didn't know what Ive been missing! WOW !it cut my sanding time from hours to 30 min. I am very pleased with the outcome of the finish with just sanding I didnt do anything but take it straight to the Beall buff.

Good start on your Bowl Profile

I have an ash blank waiting in the wings for turning and have been reluctant to start as i don't like oak bowls and ash is very close - wood way. You have some nice figure in that bowl. I would sugest a small foot and if you made one sorry - your photos don't show it.

Butternut is another wood that is common around here and after the smell of turning it wet and the wide grain in the wood, its another of my not favourite species.

Yep it has one ;) I use a recess bottom on all my bowls.,
Its where the sig is it just blends in well with the surounding wood.
The foot is about 2 1/2"

I haven't used the Beall buff system yet. If I remember right the last step is a Carnuba Wax Buff. Is that correct? How durable is that? The bowl looks great in the photos. Nice work.

Its just like any other type wax It will have to be polished up from time to time
It goes in this order Tripoli, White Diamond, Carnauba wax.
You have to watch the White Diamond dont use it on dark woods or stuff with dark inclusions in it!
