I have posted the file size limits under the "Rules and FAQ" so they are easier to find. I'm also thinking about posting the "How to Post Photos" in the same Rules and FAQ area. This would remove the Photo Tips from its permanent place at the top of the forum. (Plus I'm tired of looking at it up there).

What do you guys think?

I'd say leave it there. You (and I) may get tired of it, but not as tired as fielding new posters' inquiries on the main board about how to post pix because they don't know (or don't care or both) to research the FAQ. Leaving it as a "sticky" makes it impossible for "newbies" to miss. Probably should be done this way on every "photo site" to save archive space from the inevitable "how do I do it" threads (and sometimes testy replies) that will crop up as soon as you move it.

Of course, that's just my opinion . . 😀

In the FAQ

Anyone who has spent time on message boards shoulds know to look in the FAQ for this typ of information. You could place a small message on the forum board directing people to the FAQ or make the FAQ into an eye catching link somehow. I would also recommend improving the FAQ information to include even the most basic help information for those people who have little or no experience on a computer or message board. Believe it or not, there are lots of people like that; people just learning. A lot of my woodturning friends don't even own a computer yet. But they can turn wood better than I. They have been spending their time in the shop, where it counts most.

I've advocated a sticky on another professional forum on how to post photos. No one listens to me though. I wish I had a dime for every time I answered that question... I'd have a brand new Powermatic by now...

So I guess that answers the question.

Of course, I kinda like the "help link" idea...

Leave it where it is

I agree with Mark. Leave it where it is. If moved this question will come up over and over. What was the initial reason for placing it there? Was it to avoid answering the same question from new members? If so, moving it will undoubtedly put us back where we started.

Another option

I would consider anothe option- posting it (sticky-like would probably be best) in the "how-to" section. Trying to think like a forum newbie, I probably wouldn't know or think to look in the rules/faq area for this information. However, if I wanted to now "how to" post photos, and there was a forum labeled "how to"... well, you get the drift. 😉

Just my two cents.

Thanks for the comments and the votes so far. It's pretty obvious where the vote is going.

I tend to agree with Mark, but I'm also sick of looking at the posting everyday. If the overall vote is to put it in the FAQ then that's where it's headed. If I end up getting a bunch of email on "how to do photos" then I'll change it back. Otherwise I'll tend to get real cranky.

The most frequent question I get via email is: "How can I post/login/register". So I just put that answer in the FAQ button.

Also I changed the button label to "Help, Rules, & FAQ". Maybe that will help.

A lot of our users do not use computers very much. Overall the AAW membership tends to be an older crowd, kinda like me in age anyhow. 😱

The ratios are pretty consistent on the mini-poll. I'm going to close the poll at this point and put the "how to post videos" in the FAQ/help.

Thanks to the folks who participated in the poll and submitted opinions.
