Today I got the Osprey and Viceroy tools. I was working on a very stubborn Koa bowl, no matter what I try I wasn't able to cut it perfect. I was leaving the side grain a 9 and the end grain a 6. I decided to give the Osprey tool a try... It took a few cuts, I was able to greatly improve the quality of the end grain. I was amazed by the fine shavings I was getting, a smooth surface, glassy on the sidegrain and acceptable on the endgrain... On the inside I used my Thompson V deep bowl gouge, finished the transition wall with the #5 Hunter tool, and the very bottom with a traditional U Thomson bowl gouge with a 85 degree bevel, with a double bevel...
I looked all over but I couldn't find a video about the Osprey tools... I think I have to wait for @john lucas to make a video so I can fully tap the potential of this great tool. Thank you to Mike Hunter for all the great advice and for putting up with my Carbide beginners questions.
