I am a member of this Forum but don't think I am a member of AAW. I did not pay anything. Am I due a directory and free sharpening Video or do I need to join AAW and pay the fee first. I see with the fee you get a subscription to the magazine but I already ordered as subscription via Amazon. So where do I stand?

You do not have to be a member of the AAW to be a forum member, or visa-versa.

The only way I know to become an AAW member is to join via the AAW itself, but I am unaware of an Amazon affiliation.
The directory definately comes with the membership, the video is in the back of it.

My guess, not an AAW member
I'd cancel the Amazon subscription, join AAW for $40 and get the $35 sharpening CD for free. So for a net cost of $5 (assuming you'd order the CD) you get the subscription to the magazine, the CD, and a whole wealth of knowledge, in addition to what you learn and share here.

You're not a member of AAW unles you have paid to be a member. As Steve said, AAW membership is not required to be a poster on this forum. However, as a new turner, membership in the AAW and, even more so, membership in a local AAW chapter will provide you with resources to expand your woodturning knowledge and skills much faster. It's your choice.

All the above is excellent advice and 100% correct. I suspect the Amazon payment was to order a copy of the journal. You definitely can NOT join the AAW thru Amazon. You can join the AAW thru many chapters which have affiliate membership fees (the fee pays for the annual club dues and annual AAW dues).

You can join online and pay online. See the link on the homepage, left menu in quick links or go to the membership page directly.
