Well, I did put in wood yesterday rather than put it off for today, but it wasn't because of the 2-4" accumulation they predicted for last night. Quick shovel would do for that. This was ridiculous. No hope for a plow until Monday, either.

Back in with hot tea after plowing. I'm a bit concerned I'm running out of space, and we've got a month left.

I hear you, but I suffer terribly down south. On days like this I just keep thinking of planting the seeds I ordered last week and turning the big yellow birch and cherry logs somewhere under five feet of packed snow next to the trailer.

On a positive note, it stopped a couple hours ago, and we're at only 17. Barring a shift of the wind back to the north, it's over. The drive is another two feet narrower, however. Now the question is to try and tough it out or put the bucket on the tractor and heap it up.

mm, how is your moisture compared to other years??

last fall we had rainfall, but we are in a drought now and it is starting to affect trees like dogwood since it seems we only have a couple of months of normal rainfall then dry again

Five years ago friday we had 34" of snow fall in one day. This year we have had a constant series of storms, and we are rolling through one now. I know where you are, but I am currently unsympathetic. 🙂

There are reasons I'm FROM Montana.

While I miss real summer*, I do not miss winter. Although this winter we actually had some (two weeks with snow on the ground, and snow in places for over a month)

* my wife is found of saying that if summer comes on a weekend, we have a picnic. While not 100% true, there have been summers, that clearly werenot. When the furnace kicks in, in late July, you know the summer is a bit cool.

I’ve traveled to a lot of places in the states and they are always so nice when I’m there – obviously I’m a summer traveler. When I see photo’s like this, I’m reminded why I live in the SF Bay area.
