Following the 26th international symposium in San Jose, California, the AAW board voted unanimously on June 11 to appoint Philip S. McDonald as executive director of the organization. The action followed McDonald’s hiring in February as operations director in the AAW’s headquarters office in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
For nearly 20 years, McDonald was an administrator at the University of Minnesota, where he excelled in organizational development and strategic planning. He served in a variety of high-level positions at Minnesota’s largest university, including chief of staff to the vice president for university services.
McDonald holds both a bachelor's degree and a master's in business administration from the University of Minnesota. He retired from the school in 2004 to begin Home Revivers, a successful residential construction business.
