Hello All!

Just wanted to do a quick intro. I've been doing general woodworking/home improvement/furniture building for 20+ years or so. I've been turning off and on for about 5 years now on an old rickety Craftsman 12" lathe that I got from a coworker along with some other tools. I was thinking I eventually wanted to get into making Scottish bagpipes (which may still happen) as I have been playing those for nearly 25 years. Haven't gotten there yet, but I have made a number of different spindle projects, and more recently have gotten obsessed with bowl turning. The little bowl with handles is a "quaich", which is a trad Scottish whisky vessel, so I'm still in the Scottish ballpark, lol. I've made a few of those for piping friends and the local Scottish Heritage Society folks.

At any rate, I've recently had the opportunity to upgrade my turning setup, going with one of the new Nova Neptune Max lathes. Hoping it will be here in a few weeks. It's got me pretty excited to make shavings again, we'll see what I can do!

Thanks for having me!

Matt

Hi Matt, welcome from Chattanooga! Nice bowls. I especially like the second one—looks like it would be hard to put down after you pick it up.
